Delhi government’s drastic steps to control pollution: Petrol will not be available without PUCC Gujarati
New Delhi: Keeping in mind the serious situation of pollution in the country’s capital Delhi, the Delhi government has taken some tough decisions. The Delhi government has announced that from Thursday (December 18), vehicles which do not have a valid Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC), will not be given fuel at petrol pumps. That is, now it will be mandatory to have PUCC to fill oil in the vehicle.
Delhi government has made it clear that strict measures are being taken to control pollution. From Thursday, vehicles which do not have pollution certificate will not get petrol. All vehicles (including commercial vehicles) coming from states outside Delhi that are below BS-6 standard will be sealed from Thursday. If any truck brings construction material in Delhi, that truck will be sealed. Cameras will be used to check pollution certificates of vehicles. Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that the pollution situation in Delhi is at ‘fair stage’ and has been at the same level for the last 10 years. He said that last year AQI was 380, which is currently 363. He claimed that the government has worked continuously and pollution is less as compared to last year.
The minister said that the Delhi government has succeeded in reducing the garbage mountain by 15 meters and 45 acres out of 202 acres of land has been cleaned. ‘Non-comfort’ units in the industrial areas of Delhi have been brought under regulation. DPCC has issued more than 2 thousand notices. Action has been taken on diesel generators and till now action has been taken on 3200 generators. The government has distributed 10 thousand heaters for the use of biogas. Sirsa said that compared to last year, AQI has decreased by 20 points in November. Out of 5300 buses, 3427 electric (EV) buses have been introduced in Delhi. To control pollution, a team of scientists has been formed, whose first meeting was held on the 12th.
