Important step of Delhi government towards animal welfare, SPCA committee will be there in every district, know how it will work

The command of these societies will be in the hands of the concerned District Magistrate (DM). Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that this step has been taken after the recent reorganization of revenue districts, so that effective implementation of laws related to animal protection can be ensured at the district level.

CM Rekha Gupta said, all these SPCA committees will work under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960. Experts and other members related to the field of animal welfare will be included in these. These committees, working under the chairmanship of the DM at the district level, will ensure faster action, better monitoring and coordination in cases of cruelty to animals. This will make the system more effective at the ground level.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that all SPCA committees will now work under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960. These committees will include experts and other members of animal welfare. These committees, working under the chairmanship of DM at the district level, will take swift action in cases of cruelty towards animals. Will ensure better monitoring and coordination. Will make the animal welfare system more effective at the ground level.
DSPCA will be closed after the implementation of the new system
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the Animal Welfare Board constituted at the state level will be the main body of this entire system. This board will monitor the effective implementation of the law, provide technical and financial support to the SPCA committees functioning at the district level, ensure enhancement of their working capacity, after the implementation of the new system, the Delhi Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DSPCA) will be closed, so that the animal welfare system becomes more clear, streamlined and effective.
Government committed to the protection and welfare of animals
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the Delhi government is committed to the protection and welfare of animals. He said that this joint structure of the State Level Animal Welfare Board and the District SPCA will strengthen the institutional arrangements, ensuring tangible improvement in animal welfare outcomes in the capital. The Chief Minister also said that protection of animals is the hallmark of a sensitive and responsible society and expressed confidence that these steps will play an important role in making Delhi a more humane and responsible society.
