Delhi HC rejects anticipatory bail of Pooja Khedkar, says- playing with the entire society..

The Delhi High Court on Monday refused to grant anticipatory bail to former IAS Pooja Khedkar in the criminal case registered for alleged fraud in UPSC and wrongful availing of OBC, disability quota. His interim security was also cancelled. UPSC had already registered a criminal case against him and accused him of giving false affidavit and manipulating the judicial process.

Pooja has been accused of cheating in UPSC and taking fake benefits of OBC and disability quota. He was arrested on this charge. His candidature was canceled by UPSC. He was fired from his job and an FIR was lodged against him.

Justice Chandra Dhari Singh of Delhi High Court, while delivering the verdict, said, “The anticipatory bail petition is rejected. Also, the interim protection from arrest has been removed.” The judge said that this is a unique case of fraud perpetrated on a constitutional institution as well as the society, hence there is a need for investigation to unearth the conspiracy.

Pooja Khedkar has been accused of giving wrong information in her application to avail the benefit of reservation in the UPSC Civil Services Examination of 2022. Delhi Police's counsel and the complainant's Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) counsel opposed Khedkar's pre-arrest bail plea, senior advocate Naresh Kaushik and advocate Vardhaman Kaushik appeared in the court on behalf of UPSC.

In July, UPSC initiated a series of actions against Khedkar, including filing a criminal case against him for attempting to crack civil services examination by showing fake identity. Delhi Police registered the FIR under provisions of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act and the Indian Penal Code.
