Delhi learned a lesson from the Goa accident: Booking closed for the new year, entry will not exceed the capacity.
Delhi Police-administration is in alert mode before the celebrations of New Year and New Year Eve. This time there will be no relaxation of any kind regarding security at major restaurants, clubs, pubs and party venues in the capital. On the night of 31 December, huge crowds gather in the markets, clubs and major areas of the capital. Friends, families and youth celebrate by staying out till late night to welcome the New Year. Keeping this in mind, this preparation is being done.
Concern about security has increased after the accident that happened in a night club in Goa a few days ago. Big restaurants and clubs located in Hauz Khas, Moti Bagh, Saket, Vasant Kunj, Greater Kailash and areas adjacent to Connaught Place have tightened security rules. Advance booking has already been stopped at many places, so that there is no crowd beyond capacity. Apart from this, private security guards are also being deployed to control the crowd.
Restaurants and clubs increased security, people should understand their responsibility
The manager of a private club located in Connaught Place said that the biggest challenge on New Year is to control the crowd. Many times people arrive without booking, which can worsen the situation. Keeping this in mind, only a fixed number of people will be allowed entry into the club. Twice as many guards will be deployed in clubs as compared to normal days. Bag checking, metal detectors and handheld scanners will be used at the gate. National Restaurant Association of India treasurer Manpreet Singh said an advisory has been issued to all member establishments to further tighten safety protocols.
The owner of a private club located in Hauz Khas said that strict internal security practices are already in place at our venues. Experts said that even a little carelessness in safety during festivals and big events can lead to a major accident. Therefore advance preparation is necessary. The administration said that if everyone fulfills their responsibilities together, then the New Year celebration can be safe and happy.
20 thousand policemen will be deployed for security
About 20 thousand policemen will be deployed to maintain law and order on New Year. According to the police, there will be additional security on Delhi’s borders with Haryana and Uttar Pradesh as well as in areas adjacent to Rajasthan. These days, there is a possibility of a large number of people from neighboring states coming to Delhi, hence this step has been taken.
