Delhi Liquor Scam: Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia acquitted in CBI case, former Chief Minister said – I am not corrupt…

New Delhi, 27 February. Former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia have got a big relief in the CBI case related to Delhi Excise Policy. On Friday, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court acquitted both the top leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party. AAP National Convenor and former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal cried after being acquitted by the Rouse Avenue Court in the Delhi Excise Policy case.

He said, “For the last few years, the way BJP was talking about the liquor scam and accusing us, today the court has dismissed all the charges and acquitted all the accused. We have faith in the judiciary… Truth has prevailed… All the big leaders were put in jail to end AAP… It was a complete fake case… Kejriwal is not corrupt. I have earned only honesty in my life.

The court has said that Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and AAP are staunchly honest… Come to power by doing good work and putting us in jail by filing false cases does not suit the Prime Minister. AAP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia said, “Today once again I am proud of the Constitution of the country and today truth has won….”

Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia appeared in the court hearing on Friday. K Kavita, Amandeep Dhall and several other accused appeared through video conferencing. During this, the judge thanked every lawyer and gave his verdict. Rouse Avenue Court, while giving its verdict, acquitted all the 23 accused in the CBI case related to the alleged liquor scam. The court strongly reprimanded the CBI for shortcomings in the investigation and said that there was no major conspiracy or criminal intention in the excise policy.

The court raised questions on the CBI charge sheet and said that there were many shortcomings in it, for which there was no evidence from any witness or statement. The court also said that the prosecution’s case could not withstand judicial scrutiny as the CBI tried to fabricate a conspiracy story based on mere conjecture. Judge Jitendra Singh expressed displeasure over CBI not submitting a copy of the confessional statement. The court also objected to the use of the word ‘South Lobby’ in the charge sheet.

This case is related to the Excise (Liquor) Policy 2021-22 of the Delhi Government, in which allegations of corruption were made. Following the report of former Delhi Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena had recommended a CBI inquiry. Later CBI registered a case and started investigation. On 26 February 2023, CBI arrested Manish Sisodia in this case. On March 21, 2024, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Arvind Kejriwal after a long interrogation. After this, on June 26, CBI took him into custody from the jail itself.
