There was a huge uproar in the Delhi Assembly on Wednesday (25 March). Delhi Government Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma made serious allegations in the House regarding the expenses incurred on the residence of former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Minister Verma presented a long list in the House and claimed that extremely expensive and luxury items have been installed in a house like ‘Sheeshmahal’. In his speech, he termed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former CM Arvind Kejriwal as ‘Rehman Dacoit’.

The capital is proving to be a laggard on the environmental front.

Despite the nationwide ban on single-use plastics (SUP) imposed by the central government, the use of these banned plastic products continues in big cities of India. Especially the national capital Delhi is in the most worrying situation in this matter. A report titled ‘Revisiting Single Use Plastic Ban’ released on Wednesday by environmental group Toxics Link has revealed that many major cities, including Delhi, are performing very poorly in terms of following the nationwide ban.

250 primary schools of MCD will be transformed

New Delhi: There are preparations for major changes in the primary schools of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to improve the educational level. The corporation plans to equip 250 primary schools with modern facilities in the next one year. Under this scheme, upgraded smart classrooms, modern boards and better infrastructure will be developed in schools, so that students can get better learning environment. This decision was taken in the meeting of MCD’s education committee held on Wednesday. Committee Chairman Yogesh Verma, Vice Chairman Amit Kharkhari, Additional Commissioner Sanjeev Mittal, Education Department Director Nikhil Tiwari and committee members and senior officials were present in the meeting.

‘Modi surrendered, cylinder went missing’, AAP MLAs protest

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs demonstrated strongly outside the Assembly on the third day of the budget session as the suspension was not reversed and targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government. On Tuesday, the MLAs raised the issue of Palam fire incident and put the Rekha Gupta government in the dock. At the same time, on Wednesday, he made a scathing attack on the shortage of gas cylinders, terming the foreign policy of the Narendra Modi government as a failure. The MLAs allege that the government is shirking its responsibilities instead of paying attention to serious issues related to the public, against which this protest will continue.

Woman accuses 57-year-old former college classmate of rape: Delhi High Court has granted bail to a 57-year-old accused in a rape case. The court considered the delay of about two and a half years in registering the FIR and the contradiction in the statements of the victim as the main basis of this decision. While hearing the case, Justice Prateek Jalan on Tuesday gave relief to the accused Khem Kumar and ordered him to be released on a personal bond of Rs 40 thousand and surety of the same amount. CBI caught outpost incharge of Kashmiri Gate red handed taking bribe: A case of illegal betting and taking bribe in the name of running water vendors has come to light in Delhi. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a sub-inspector in-charge of Kashmiri Gate police post red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 20,000. It is alleged that the policeman first took Rs 20,000 for betting and later demanded the same amount for setting up a water vendor near Kashmiri Gate bus stand.
