NEW DELHI: In a major crackdown the Anti-Narcotics Squad (ANS) of Delhi Police’s East District has dismantled an international drug syndicate, seizing psychotropic substances valued at around ₹1.1 crore and arresting four individuals, including two foreign nationals.
The arrested individuals comprise a local drug peddler, a carrier, and two suspected suppliers of African origin. Police recovered commercial quantities of narcotics—120.18 grams of cocaine and 36.86 grams of MDMA—from their possession. এছ In addition, authorities seized two weighing machines, an electronic packaging device, polythene packets, six mobile phones, two passports, and ₹6,610 in cash.
The accused have been identified as Mohd. Hasan (23), a drug peddler and carrier from Geeta Colony; Razia, a drug peddler from Mandawali; Diouf Solomon alias Oskar (27), a Senegalese national believed to be the main supplier; and Bemah (30), a Liberian national suspected to be his associate.
The operation began on March 25 after the ANS received specific intelligence about a drug supplier operating near Chitra Vihar in East Delhi. Acting promptly, the team apprehended Mohd. Hasan and recovered 7.58 grams of MDMA from him. During questioning, Hasan disclosed his connection with an African supplier known as “Oskar,” who was active around the Outer Ring Road and Sriniwaspuri areas.
Based on this information, police launched a late-night operation on March 27–28 and arrested Oskar near Sriniwaspuri. He was found in possession of additional MDMA and was using a scooty bearing a fake number plate, which was later confirmed to have been stolen from Uttam Nagar.
Subsequently, through surveillance and CCTV analysis, police traced Oskar’s residence in Amrit Puri. A raid at the location led to the arrest of his associate Bemah and the recovery of a substantial quantity of cocaine and MDMA, along with equipment used for packaging and distribution. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of Razia from Mandawali on March 29. She was allegedly handling retail distribution, and additional MDMA along with packaging materials were recovered from her residence.
Police said that Hasan initially purchased small quantities of MDMA for personal use but later became involved in drug trafficking for financial gain. He procured MDMA from Oskar at approximately ₹1,500 per pouch and supplied it to Razia, who sold it at higher prices of up to ₹2,200 per pouch. The syndicate functioned through a network linking international suppliers with local distributors, targeting urban users and capitalising on addiction for profit.
Delhi Police officials said further investigation is underway to identify other links in the network and explore possible international connections. They reiterated their commitment to eradicating the drug menace and ensuring a drug-free society. A senior officer stated that the operation highlights the force’s ongoing efforts to dismantle drug syndicates and bring those involved to justice.
