New Delhi, 27 July. Delhi Police has directed many social media platforms to remove such posts and videos in which objectionable and abusive words were said against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. These posts were uploaded during the violence related to the student protests at Jantar Mantar and the ‘Sansad Chalo’ march on July 20.
In fact, during the protests and the violence that followed, many posts using abusive language against PM Modi had appeared on various social media platforms. The social media monitoring team of Delhi Police is monitoring social media platforms throughout the day to identify objectionable content related to the protests.
Delhi Police said that after its notice, many lewd comments and videos containing abusive language about the Prime Minister have been removed. Monitoring is ongoing, with cyber and social media teams keeping a close eye on online activities related to the protests to identify more objectionable posts and take appropriate action against content that violates the rules.
Political tension had increased during the Parliament Chalo March.
According to the information received, this action has been taken amid increased political tension regarding the ‘Chalo Sansad’ march held on July 20. During this march, students protesting against irregularities in NEET and CBSE examinations clashed with security personnel while marching from Jantar Mantar towards Parliament.
130 policemen were injured
According to Delhi Police sources, at least 130 policemen and around 65 students were injured during the protests while 15 FIRs have been registered in connection with the violence. Police also said that around 3,000 security personnel were deployed in and around Jantar Mantar, where an average of 10,000 people were gathering daily since the protests intensified.
However, after the government accepted all the demands of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) and Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation from the post of Education Minister, CJP has ended the protest going on for the last one month and the protest site Jantar Mantar has also been vacated.
