Delhi’s air becomes poison, AQI crosses 400 even after Grape-4, pollution increases concern

Delhi Pollution: With the onset of winter season, the climate of Delhi has once again become very bad. These days the capital is wrapped in a blanket of dense fog and poisonous smog. The dust and smoke mixed in the air is having a bad effect on people’s health. Problems like difficulty in breathing, eye irritation, cough and headache have become common. The Air Quality Index (AQI) has reached ‘severe’ category in many areas, making the situation even more worrying.

Today (December 16) morning, the average air quality index (AQI) of the capital has been recorded at 410, which falls in the ‘very severe’ category. The situation is even worse in many areas of Delhi, where the air has become poisonous and suffocating. The level of pollution has increased so much that it is badly affecting not only the national capital but the entire NCR region and neighboring states.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s average AQI on Monday (December 15) was recorded at 427, which is in the ‘very severe’ category. On Sunday it had reached 461, which is the second highest level in the month of December. On Monday, the air quality remained serious at 27 monitoring centers in the capital, which clearly reflects the gravity of the situation.

AQI condition in Delhi-NCR

According to the data released by CPCB this morning-

  • Rohini: 449- Very serious

  • New Delhi: 411- Very serious

  • Anand Vihar: 402- Very serious

  • Dwarka: 408- Very serious

  • Noida: 421- Very serious

  • Ghaziabad: 386- very bad

  • Gurugram: 378- very bad

CAQM’s strict instructions

Let us tell you that in view of the increasing pollution, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has immediately taken strict steps. CAQM has ordered to ban outdoor sports activities in all schools of Delhi-NCR with immediate effect. The Commission has warned that strict action will be taken against schools violating the orders. Experts believe that the current pollution level is extremely dangerous for children.

At the same time, doctors have also expressed serious concern over this deadly pollution level. This level of pollution can increase health problems like asthma, shortness of breath and eye irritation. People have been advised to wear masks while leaving the house and avoid unnecessary activities.
