112 employees of prepaid taxi scheme in Delhi removed, Sanjay Singh demands reappointment

Delhi News: Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and MP Sanjay Singh has raised the issue of removal of 112 employees associated with the prepaid taxi scheme running in Delhi. In a press conference held at the Aam Aadmi Party headquarters on Wednesday, he said that these employees have played an important role in making this scheme successful for almost 40 years. His sudden removal from his job is a matter of concern for his future.

What is the story of this prepaid taxi?

Sanjay Singh told that in the year 1986, Delhi Police had started prepaid taxi system keeping in mind the safety of passengers. Under this system, taxis were booked from the booth and passengers were monitored, so that safe travel could be ensured. Service charge was taken for the operation of the scheme, which covered the salary and maintenance expenses of the employees. He claimed that due to the hard work of the employees, FD worth about Rs 10 crore was also made in the scheme.

System changing into app based system

The AAP MP said that now this system is being changed to an app based system. In such a situation, employees working for a long time are being removed, while some employees are still in a state of confusion. Sanjay Singh demanded from the government that while implementing the new system, the old employees should be accommodated and their services should be continued.

The employees present at the press conference also expressed their views. He said that he was removed without adequate notice. Many employees are in the age group of 50 to 60 years and were dependent on this work for years. Some employees also said that they had earlier received instructions from the court in matters related to regularization and ‘equal pay for equal work’. The employees have demanded that they be rehired and their services included in the new system, so that their future can be secure.
