Tahir Hussain, one of the main accused in the 2020 riots in Delhi, is in jail. More than 50 people died in the riots in Delhi. Accused Tahir is also accused of being involved in the murder of IB officer Ankit Sharma. The accused had previously been a corporation councilor from the Aam Aadmi Party. In the Delhi Assembly elections, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has made Tahir Hussain its candidate from Mustafabad Assembly seat.
