Delhi riots accused Sharjeel Imam gets relief from court, 10 days interim bail for brother’s marriage.

Tezzbuzz Desk – Delhi riots accused Sharjeel Imam has got a big relief from the court. Karkardooma Court has granted him interim bail for 10 days so that he can attend his brother’s wedding and fulfill his family responsibilities. The court has given this decision on humanitarian grounds.

According to the information, the court of Additional Sessions Judge Sameer Bajpai has granted interim bail to Sharjeel Imam from March 20 to March 30. Sharjeel Imam had filed an application in the court demanding temporary release for 10 days. He had told that his brother was going to get married and his mother was also not well. In such a situation, considering their household responsibilities, they should be allowed to come out for some time.

Court imposed strict conditions

While granting interim bail, the court has also imposed some strict conditions. The court has made it clear that Sharjeel Imam will neither contact the media nor use social media during the bail. Apart from this, they will have to surrender back in jail after the expiry of the stipulated period.

He was lodged in Tihar jail for a long time.

Sharjeel Imam has been lodged in Tihar jail for a long time on charges of conspiracy in Delhi riots and giving inflammatory speeches. In 2020, there was large-scale violence in North-East Delhi during the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC).

During that period, 53 people were killed and many were injured in the violence, arson and clashes. In this case, the Special Cell of Delhi Police has registered a case against many accused including Sharjeel Imam under serious sections like UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act).

According to the court order, Sharjeel Imam has been given interim relief of only 10 days. After the expiry of the bail period, he will have to return to Tihar Jail again.
