Union Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today, on Friday, November 15, on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of the great freedom fighter and mass leader Lord Birsa Munda, announced the renaming of Delhi's Sarai Kalekhan ISBT Chowk as Birsa Munda Chowk. Tribal Pride Day is being celebrated across the country on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda. The central government has declared Munda's birth anniversary in 2021 as Tribal Pride Day, and several programs are being organized across the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute to Lord Birsa Munda on his birth anniversary. He wrote on social media platform My deepest respects to him on the auspicious occasion of his birth anniversary 'Tribal Pride Day'.
Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said, “Today I am announcing that the big square outside the ISBT bus stand here will be known as Lord Birsa Munda. Seeing this statue and the name of that square, not only the citizens of Delhi but also the people coming to the international bus stand will be inspired by his life.”

Who was Birsa Munda

Birsa Munda was born in 1875 in Ulihatu, a tribal area in Bihar, where he united the tribals against British colonial rule and religious conversion.

Who was Kale Khan?
Sarai Kale Khan, an area in south-east Delhi, is named after a Sufi saint. Nearby this area are Nizamuddin, Jangpura, Khizrabad, Jangpura Extension and Lajpat Nagar.
The tomb of 14-15th century Sufi saint Sher Shah Suri is in the Indira Gandhi Airport area. Sarai was called those places where people rested and started their journey again. Kale Khan was also a major commander of Aurangzeb and a participant in many wars.
