Delhi Schools Closed: Air pollution in Delhi closed schools, online classes will run from nursery to class 5.
New Delhi: The ever-increasing air pollution in Delhi has now started affecting children’s education as well. In view of the deteriorating air and AQI which has reached the serious category, the Delhi government has taken a big decision. As per the order issued by the government, offline classes have been stopped for students from nursery to class 5 in all the schools of the capital and now studies will be conducted only in online mode.

Till now the Delhi Government had given the freedom to the parents to send their children to school or choose the option of online classes if they wish. But in view of the dangerous level of pollution, this option has been withdrawn. In the circular issued by the Directorate of Education, it is clearly stated that till further notice, education from nursery to class 5 in all government, aided and private recognized schools will be online only.
Strict instructions to school administration
Delhi Directorate of Education has directed all school heads to immediately inform parents and guardians about this decision. Besides, the Deputy Directors of Education posted at zonal and district level have been given the responsibility of correct and smooth implementation of the order. However, the education of students above class 6 will continue as per the guidelines already issued.
Delhi’s air becomes deadly

On Tuesday morning, Delhi was once again seen wrapped in a blanket of dense smog. For the third consecutive day, the AQI of the capital was recorded in the ‘severe’ category. The AQI reached 457 at 6 am, causing extremely poor visibility in many areas. From roads to air traffic, the impact of pollution was clearly visible everywhere.
Flights were also affected
Due to dense fog and pollution, Delhi Airport has issued an advisory for passengers. There is a possibility that flight operations will be affected due to low visibility. Airlines have advised passengers to stay in touch with the respective companies for the latest information related to flights.
Delhi’s air at dangerous level
According to the Pollution Control Board, air is considered serious when AQI reaches above 400, while above 450 the situation is extremely serious. The level of 500 is considered extremely dangerous. In such a situation, this decision of the government is being considered as a precautionary step keeping in mind the health of small children.
