In view of security, the entire area has been converted into a cantonment and heavy police and paramilitary forces have been deployed.
In fact, after the order of the Supreme Court, action has been taken to remove encroachment on a large scale in Shalimar Bagh (Shalimar Village). Bulldozers are being run on more than 150 illegal constructions.
Encroachment is being removed from Max Hospital Road since 4 am. To widen the road, 150 houses built here are being demolished. After the completion of the demolition work, the road leading from Outer Ring Road to Azadpur Mandi will be directly connected from Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar to Azadpur Mandi.
These houses are coming in the way of road widening
Let us tell you that earlier notices were given to 150 house owners coming in the way of road widening. They were asked to vacate these houses by May 30, 2026. After this, the landlords first approached the Delhi High Court and then the Supreme Court, but they did not get any relief. The Supreme Court had also directed everyone to vacate their houses by May 30.

People themselves are demolishing houses and shops with hammers and chisels.
Here, seeing the strictness of bulldozers and police, the people of Shalimar village have themselves started vacating their houses and shops. After the administration’s ultimatum is over, people have understood that there will be no relief now. In such a situation, to avoid losses, people themselves are breaking the balconies and concrete structures in front of their shops with hammers and chisels, so that their valuables can be taken out safely and the financial loss can be reduced.
