Delhi will become the safest; 10,000 AI cameras will monitor, there will be no need for PCR call in trouble
Delhi Police’s ambitious ‘Safe City Project’ is going to be completed soon. Under this project, 10,000 AI cameras will be installed in the city. These cameras will not only monitor, but will automatically recognize the crisis situation and send an alert directly to the police control room. This means no PCR calls will need to be made, making the security system even faster and more effective.
When will this project start?
The Safe City Project was started in 2018. Although its deadline was extended several times, it is now planned to be launched in 2026. The installation of cameras is almost complete. Currently, integration of all databases and real-time testing is underway to make the system fully operational and operational.
How will AI work?
According to the report, these cameras will be equipped with face recognition and distress detection technology. If a person is in distress, the system will recognize the danger based on his facial expressions, gestures or voice. In such a situation, the alert will immediately reach the C4i Center (Command, Control, Communication, Computing and Intelligence), due to which the police will be able to take action without delay. A total of 32 data sets including NCRB crime records, criminals’ dossiers, vehicle database and ZIPNET are being added to this system. This will make it possible to track suspects and criminals faster and make the city’s security system much stronger.
Police will get new power
A total of 88 Prakhar vans are involved in the Safe City Project. These vans will be equipped with body-worn cameras, vehicle cameras, GPS and communication devices. Apart from this, two mobile command vehicles will also be deployed, which will act as control rooms during major crisis or any event. This scheme of about Rs 800 crore is being run from the Nirbhaya Fund of the Central Government. Three technology companies have received tenders. A special team is working at the police headquarters, while DCP and Joint CP rank officers are monitoring it. The cameras started in the riot-hit areas of North-East Delhi and have now spread across the city, making Delhi’s security apparatus more robust and prompt.
Traffic will also be smart
Along with the Safe City Project, Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) is also going to start soon in Delhi. 500 ANPR cameras will be installed at main intersections, which will read number plates and keep an eye on those breaking traffic rules. This will allow the jam situation to be monitored and improved in real-time, making the traffic in the capital safer and smoother.
