Delhi Traffic Police has made strict arrangements to deal with unruly elements and maintain smooth traffic during Christmas and New Year. Officials said that a special campaign will be launched against those who drink and drive. Along with this, heavy security forces have been deployed in churches, malls and markets. Traffic restrictions have also been imposed on some roads, for which advisories have been issued.
Special restrictions around Select City Mall Saket
- Movement of heavy vehicles closed between Sheikh Sarai and Haujrani:
In view of the overcrowding at Select City Mall on December 25, heavy vehicles and DTC/cluster buses have been banned from Sheikh Sarai to Haujrani from 2 pm on Wednesday. - All road cuts will remain closed: The cuts from Sheikh Sarai Lal Batti to Haujrani have been closed.
Traffic diversion and alternative routes
- Traffic Diversion from Sheikh Sarai:
Traffic has been diverted from Sheikh Sarai Lal Batti and Asian Market Light. Alternative routes have been suggested for passengers to reach their destination. - alternative route:
- Passengers going from Chirag Delhi to Qutub Minar should use MB Road from Press Enclave Road via Khanpur Lal Batti.
- Commuters going towards PTS from IIT flyover should opt for Aurobindo Marg and TB Hospital Road.

- Overcrowding at churches and malls:
- Traffic diversions may be implemented at Sacred Heart Cathedral, St. Thomas Church (Mandir Marg and RK Puram), St. Martin’s Church (Delhi Cantonment), and St. Mary’s Church (Vasant Kunj) in view of the possibility of heavy crowd.
- Traffic restrictions have been imposed in view of the expectation of a large number of people gathering at Select City Mall in Saket.
Guidelines for buses and public transportation
- Public buses will not be allowed to enter from MB Road/Asian Market Red Light towards Pushp Vihar.
- Vehicles coming from IIT flyover:
Passengers should use Aurobindo Marg and MB Road.
