Delhi Weather: 5 year record broken in Delhi, hottest night of July recorded; Now heavy rain is coming to provide relief
New Delhi. Due to the indifference of monsoon in the country’s capital Delhi and the entire NCR, people are facing scorching and suffocating humid heat. Meanwhile, both a big relief and a big warning have come from the Meteorological Department (IMD) for the people of Delhi. The hottest night of the month of July in the last 5 years was recorded in Delhi on Friday (July 17), which left people in distress. However, amidst this extreme heat, the weather is about to take a turn. The Meteorological Department has today issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ of light to moderate rain with thunderstorm in Delhi-NCR for Saturday (July 18) and Sunday (July 19), due to which the temperature is expected to drop. The minimum temperature broke the record, the hottest night after 2021. According to the data of Safdarjung Meteorological Centre, the minimum temperature of Delhi was recorded 3.8 degrees above normal i.e. 31 degrees Celsius on Friday. This is the hottest night recorded in the month of July in the last five years. Earlier on July 1, 2021, the minimum temperature was recorded at 31.7 degrees Celsius. Due to complete closure of air at night and excessive humidity in the atmosphere, people had to face a lot of problems inside and outside their homes. At a temperature of 38.8 degrees, the feeling of heat is like 51 degrees. Not only the night, but also the day of Delhi is scorching terribly. On Friday, the maximum temperature of Delhi was recorded 3.6 degrees above normal i.e. 38.8 degrees Celsius. According to meteorologists, due to high humidity in the air ranging from 46 to 74 percent, people actually felt the scorching heat of 48 to 51 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature reached 39 degrees Celsius in Lodhi Road and 38.5 degrees Celsius in Palam. Yellow Alert: Rain with strong winds expected over the weekend. According to the latest forecast of the Meteorological Department (IMD), the weather of Delhi may change after noon today due to moist winds coming from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. The sky will be partly cloudy on Saturday and Sunday. During this period, there is a strong possibility of a strong storm with a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour and light rain or drizzle along with thunder and lightning. This rain will not provide immediate relief from humidity, but the maximum temperature may drop by 3 degrees to around 36 degrees Celsius. The real U-turn of monsoon will come after July 20. According to the experts of Skymet and IMD, the long break of monsoon which was going on in Delhi is now on the verge of ending. Real and widespread relief will be seen between July 20 and 22. During this period, heavy rains will begin in the plains of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh, due to which Delhi, which has been dry for a long time, will get complete relief from the scorching heat. Meanwhile, Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 176 on Friday evening, which remains in the ‘moderate’ category.
