Delhi's serial killer Chandrakant Jha arrested… 18 murders in Delhi, used to throw decapitated bodies outside Tihar Jail

The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested parole jumper and serial killer Chandrakant Jha. Chandrakant had committed several murder incidents around Tihar Jail. After serving life imprisonment in 2013, Chandrakant Jha got parole for 90 days in 2023. But he did not return to jail even after completing his parole period. Chandrakant Jha's crime record has been very bad. In which after the murder, the dead body was cut into pieces and thrown around Tihar Jail.

Special Commissioner Devesh Srivastava said that some time ago the Tihar Jail administration had given the Delhi Police a list of absconding accused, in which the name of serial killer Chandrakant Jha was also there. During 2006-07, he used to kill many people and throw their decapitated bodies outside Tihar Jail and also challenged the Delhi Police to catch him.

He was arrested in 2007 by the Western District Police from Alipore area. He was sentenced to death and life imprisonment in three cases. In 2023, he came out of Tihar Jail on parole, but did not return. The jail administration informed the police about this, after which the crime branch team started searching for him.

He was arrested on Friday by the team of ACP Ramesh Lamba and Inspector Satendra Mohan under the supervision of Additional Commissioner Sanjay Sen. At present, information about his hiding places and helpers is being collected.

Chandrakant Jha's crime history has been extremely dangerous and mysterious. He murdered eight people in West Delhi between 1998 and 2007, a spree that began in 1998. Chandrakant used to befriend his victims first and then kill them. He used to befriend the migrant workers from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, entangle them on the pretext of getting them jobs, and then commit murder. Shekhar and Umesh were murdered in 2003, Guddu in 2005, Amit in 2006 and Upendra and Dilip in 2007.

Chandrakant Jha had a horrific way of committing murders. After the murder, he would cut the bodies into pieces and then throw them around Tihar Jail. Each time, he would leave a note near the body, which read: 'I have committed murder, catch me if you can.' This became a headache for the criminal police. Delhi Police, which was searching for this dangerous criminal for a long time, considers the arrest of Chandrakant Jha as a big success. Chandrakant Jha's cruel act has challenged the police.

In February 2013, Chandrakant Jha was convicted of three murders, and was sentenced to death and life imprisonment. However, in 2016 his death sentence was commuted to life imprisonment. A documentary titled Indian Prime Minister: The Butcher of Delhi is based on the life of Chandrakant Jha. Chandrakant was a serial killer who used to roam around in the weekly markets of Delhi. He was married twice, leaving his first wife within a year, had five daughters with his second wife, and was mostly away from his family.
