  • Issue of ‘Delivery Boys’ problems in Parliament
  • Even worse condition than daily labourers
  • Raghav Chadha said in the presence of questions

Raghav Chadha on Delivery Boy: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha (Raghav Chadha) in Rajya Sabha ‘Delivery Boys’ (Delivery Boys) and ‘Gig Workers’ (Gig Workers) issue was raised. He said these delivery boys are the ‘invisible wheels of the Indian economy’ who deliver within 10 minutes of placing an order or as soon as possible. He lamented that their peace and insecurity compels them to risk their lives.

That of the Indian economy….

While raising the issue in Rajya Sabha, Chadha said: Delivery boys of ‘Zomato’, ‘Swiggy’, drivers of ‘Ola’ and ‘Uber’, riders of ‘Blinkit’ and ‘Zepto’ as well as plumbers or beauticians of ‘Urban Company’ are undocumented gig workers, but in reality they are undocumented. are the invisible wheels of the Indian economy.

Even worse condition than daily labourers

E-commerce and insta delivery companies have earned billions of rupees on the strength of this ‘quiet workforce’. However, the condition of these workers who make these companies billionaires is even worse than the daily workers, Chadha explained. He explained how the pressure on gig workers to deliver on time and speed affects their mindset. They fear that if they don’t deliver on time, the rating will drop, incentives will be cut, the app will be logged out or the ID will be blocked. It is because of this fear that they risk their lives by ignoring the red light and trying to deliver the goods quickly. If there is a delay of 10 minutes, there is fear of displeasure of customers. Customers get on the phone and threaten to ‘report you’ and waste months of hard work with ‘one star’ ratings.

12 to 14 hours work, no rest

Chadha highlighted the working conditions of these workers. These people work for 12 to 14 hours every day, whatever the weather (rain, sun, cold). They do not have the necessary safety equipment and do not get any special bonus or additional allowance. It is a situation where “earnings are low and sickness is high for them,” he said.

Special appeal to Govt

As their families depend on these gig workers, Chadha demanded that the government consider their problems. “Government should come up with some concrete policy, which can provide relief to these gig workers and ensure their employment security,” he made a special appeal in Parliament.
