Demand for electric MEMU train intensifies on Dullabchhada-Shilchar route of Barak Valley of Sama.

The demand for starting mainline electric multiple unit (MEMU) train service on the Dullabhchhada-Shilchar route in Barak Valley of Assam is increasing by the regional people. Local citizens have strongly appealed to the Central Government and Indian Railways to start modern and regular train service on this route.
Local people say that if electric MEMU train service is started between Dulabhchhada and Shilchar, passengers will get immense convenience. With this, daily commuters, students, working people and businessmen will benefit from fast, safe and timely travel.
According to the villagers, the start of this rail service will also give impetus to business activities in the area and will strengthen the local economy. People also believe that better rail connectivity will ensure overall development of the area.
Promotion of environment friendly electric rail service is also likely to bring positive changes in the transportation infrastructure of Barak Valley. Along with this, the hope of increase in passenger revenue of Railways is also being expressed.
Local citizens have appealed to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and concerned railway officials that keeping in mind the public interest, necessary steps should be taken to start MEMU train service on this route soon.
People believe that if this long pending demand is fulfilled, thousands of passengers will get direct benefits and regional development will get a new direction.
