Demand for repair of the damaged culvert on the road connecting Panchdali to Shyamnagar ND Dam in Shribhoomi district.
Shribhoomi: A culvert was constructed on the government initiative in the year 2025 on the road connecting Panchdali to Shyamnagar ND Dam in Ward No. 5 under Dargarband Gram Panchayat of Ramakrishnanagar assembly constituency of Shribhoomi district of Assam. Local villagers allege that within a year of its construction the culvert got damaged due to the strong flow of the river. At present, the only means of transportation for the villagers is a temporary bridge made of bamboo, crossing which they have to risk their lives every day. The situation becomes more serious during the rainy season.
Villagers say that with the prompt repair or reconstruction of the culvert, the important and short connection road to Anipur will be reopened. This will provide easy transportation facility to the people of Dulabhchhada Model Village, Krishnanagar, Rupagram, Shyamnagar and Panchdali to Anipur market. According to local people, this route can also play an important role as an alternative bypass road.
Villagers have alleged that this situation has arisen due to lack of quality of construction work or lack of adequate security arrangements, due to which people have been facing huge problems for a long time. The villagers have demanded Vijay Malakar, the popular MLA of Ramakrishna Nagar assembly constituency, to take cognizance of the matter and inspect the incident site, get the necessary investigation done and ensure a permanent solution by repairing or reconstructing the culvert immediately. So that people’s problems can be solved.
