Sitapur (UP): A major incident that shames faith and belief has come to light from Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh. A case of molestation of a woman on the pretext of exorcism and treatment has come to light in a madrasa located in Rampur Mathura police station area. Accused Maulana Qutubuddin crossed all limits of decorum under the guise of religion and belief. There is an atmosphere of tension and anger in the area after the incident. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the police have not only registered a case but have also taken a former head into custody and started interrogation.

Maulana’s resolve wavered after finding himself alone

In the complaint given to the police, the victim told that she had gone to the madrassa with the purpose of getting prayers and amulets for the improvement of her daughter’s health. When she reached there on March 7, initially some other women were also present. The victim alleges that as soon as other people passed by and Maulana Qutubuddin found her alone, he maliciously grabbed the woman’s hand and tried to forcibly perform obscene acts on her. The woman somehow ran away from there to save her life and honor and after reaching home, informed her family about the entire incident.

Strict action by police: Former head in custody

As soon as information about the incident was received, Rampur Mathura Police came into action mode. Police station in-charge Shyamu Kanojia said that a case has been registered against the accused Maulana Qutubuddin under relevant serious sections. During the investigation, the police have also detained a former head, who is being interrogated regarding the whereabouts of Maulana and his involvement in the case. Several police teams are continuously raiding possible locations in search of the absconding Maulana.

Outrage in the area, warning from administration

There is a lot of anger among the local people after this shameful incident. People say that such actions at religious places are intolerable. At the same time, the police administration has given a strong message that the criminals who play with the emotions of innocent people in the name of faith and compromise the safety of women will not be spared at any cost. The accused will be arrested very soon and sent behind the bars.
