what is the whole matter

The controversy started on April 30, when Congress leader Piyush Surana was accused of allegedly posting obscene and objectionable social media posts about the Delhi Chief Minister.

After this, BJP media coordinator Vikram Singh lodged a complaint at Ganj police station. The police took Piyush Surana into custody the same day.

During the incident, many women workers including BJP Mahila Morcha District President Bharti Srivastava reached the police station. Meanwhile, an incident of a woman throwing ink on Surana came to light, the video of which also went viral on social media.

Social media posts and political tension

Political controversies regarding social media posts have increased rapidly in recent years. Statements made by politicians and activists often lead to legal action and public protests.

Experts believe that it is very important to maintain decorum of language and expression during political dialogue on digital platforms. On the other hand, ensuring impartial action is also becoming a big challenge for law enforcement agencies.

Increasing activism of women’s organizations

The active participation of women’s organizations in this matter has given more political importance to the controversy. Mahila Congress says that any kind of partisan action will not be accepted in matters related to women’s respect and law and order.

On the other hand, BJP Mahila Morcha is also looking at this entire matter by linking it with the respect of women and political accountability.
