Dr. Diwakar Singh, consultant in a Delhi-based hospital, says that at present dengue cases are under control in Delhi-NCR, but these cases may increase in the coming days. Dengue patients are coming to OPD in Delhi hospitals, but the number of admissions is less at present.

According to the report of the Union Health Ministry, the symptoms of dengue usually last for two to seven days, but in severe cases it can extend for longer time. This can cause problems like headache, severe pain behind the eyes (retro-orbital pain), skin rashes, and bleeding. Dengue in children is usually mild, but in some adults it can cause severe bone pain and other complications.

According to the Health Ministry, some important things should be kept in mind when dengue occurs:
- – Keep an eye on the fever and monitor the fever every hour.
- – If the fever is not getting better, then get the platelets checked.
- – Drink plenty of fluids to keep the body hydrated.
- – Use acetaminophen (paracetamol) for pain.
- – Avoid medicines like ibuprofen and aspirin.
- – If there is no relief in symptoms, contact the doctor immediately.
What not to do in case of dengue?
- -Do not consume aspirin or ibuprofen in the treatment of dengue.
- – Dengue may cause loss of appetite, but do not stop eating.
- – Avoid salty and spicy food, as it can increase dehydration and digestive problems.
- – If the fever is not getting better in 2-3 days then definitely contact the doctor. Treatment should not be delayed.
