Deportation is imposed on Indians in Canada, all records will be broken in 2025, why are thousands of students and workers being forcibly sent home?

News India Live, Digital Desk: A worrying news has emerged for Indians dreaming of going to Canada. In the year 2025, the Canadian government has broken all records till now in the matter of deporting Indian citizens. According to the latest data, more than 2,800 Indians have been deported from Canada in the first 10 months of 2025 alone, and more than 6,500 people are still on the radar. Why is such a huge action being taken? 3 main reasons Violation of refugee rules: According to Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), a large number of Indian citizens try to stay there by seeking ‘asylum’. When their claims are found to be fraudulent during investigation, the government orders them to leave the country immediately. Visa Fraud and Fake Documents: In recent years, there has been a huge increase in cases of obtaining visas by using fake admission letters and showing wrong work experience. Canada has now strengthened its verification system so much that even if minor irregularities are found, a direct ‘deportation order’ is being issued. Major change in immigration policy: Under the leadership of Canada’s new Prime Minister Mark Carney, the government has set a target of limiting the number of ‘Temporary Residents’ to 5% of the total population. Under this, international student permits have been reduced by up to 31%. 3 strict levels of deportation: which are important to understand. The Government of Canada expels people under three types of orders: Departure Order: The person has to leave the country voluntarily within 30 days. Exclusion Order: In this, the person is banned from returning to Canada for 1 to 5 years. Deportation Order: This is the most stringent. In this, a permanent ban is imposed on the person from coming to Canada. Special written permission is required to re-enter. Indian students are most affected. If we believe the figures, then the largest number of those expelled during 2024-25 are those students whose work permits had expired or who tried to stay illegally after completing their studies.
