Derek O’Brien made serious allegations against the Election Commission, said – CEC said ‘get away from here’, what I saw today is shameful
New Delhi. Amidst the West Bengal Assembly Elections, TMC MP Derek O’Brien expressed his displeasure before the Election Commission in Delhi on Wednesday. The MP alleges that the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of the Commission asked him to leave after ending the meeting in just seven minutes.

Derek O’Brien said today we went to meet the Chief Election Commissioner. The meeting started at 10:02 am. When we asked him how are you transferring officers and how will you conduct free and fair elections? Within seven minutes of the meeting he said, ‘Get away from here.’ What I saw today is shameful.
The MP further challenged the Election Commission to release the video or audio recording to clarify what actually happened in the meeting. Derek O’Brien said that one of our colleagues congratulated him on being the only CEC of India to have received removal notices from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Today all like-minded opposition parties will hold a joint press conference from 4 to 4:30 pm on this issue.
Election Commission’s ultimatum to TMC
The Election Commission has clarified that this time the assembly elections to be held in West Bengal will be completely fair and peaceful. The Commission gave a clear message to the Trinamool Congress (TMC) saying that the elections will be free from fear, free from violence, free from threats and free from greed. The Election Commission also said that any kind of raid, booth jamming or source jamming will not be tolerated.

However, the Election Commission requested TMC MP Derek O’Brien to maintain decent behavior during the meeting. Commission officials said that shouting and inappropriate behavior in the meeting is not appropriate.
A senior official of the ECI (CEC) said, ‘The MP was politely asked to please maintain decorum in the Commission room. It is important that all meetings are conducted with respect and decorum.
