Desk workers urgently need to master AI – report

Bengaluru Bengaluru: Amid the growing influence of artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace, 94 per cent of Indians working at desks feel an urgent need to master advanced technology, according to a report on Tuesday. Slack's new Workforce Index has revealed that AI adoption is on the rise in India, with 61 percent of Indian desk workers using AI in their jobs and 80 percent excited by the prospect of AI replacing some tasks. India's progress in AI adoption underlines the growing priority of AI among its executives and reflects the growing need among business leaders to unlock its transformative potential.

The report, based on a survey of 1,029 desk workers in India, revealed that although 94 percent of employees are willing to gain skills on AI, 40 percent have spent less than five hours total learning how to use the technology. Rahul Sharma, Vice President – ​​Sales, Salesforce India, said, “India's workforce is leading the adoption of AI, with 61 percent of desk workers already integrating AI into their roles. This enthusiasm is driven by AI's transformative potential and innovation and “highlights its alignment with leadership priorities for upskilling.”
