Material

  • Okra – 250 gms
  • Oil – 3 tbsp
  • Mustard – ½ tsp
  • Cumin – ½ tsp
  • Onion – 1 medium (finely chopped)
  • Turmeric – ¼ tsp
  • Red Chilli – 1 tsp (as per taste)
  • Coriander-cumin powder – 1 tsp
  • Garam masala – ½ tsp
  • Amchur powder or lemon juice – 1 tsp
  • Salt – as per taste
  • Coriander

  • First of all wash okra and dry it completely and chop it into medium size.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and cumin seeds and let it crackle.
  • Add chopped onion to it and saute until light pink.
  • Now add turmeric, red chillies and coriander-cumin powder and turn the masala on low flame.
  • Add chopped okra and saute well in all the spices.
  • Let the okra cook uncovered on medium heat, stirring in between.
  • Finally add salt, garam masala and amchur powder and saute for 2 minutes.
  • Switch off the gas and add coriander on top.
  • Serve hot with okra masala chapatis, bread or plain Varan-Bhata.
