Batting first, Hyderabad scored a huge score of 255 runs after losing 4 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, RCB team could score only 200 runs for 4 wickets in 20 overs and lost the match. However, despite the defeat, the Bengaluru team was successful in saving its place in the top-2 in the points table.

This match was also important for RCB because the team needed to reach only 166 runs to remain in the top-2. The team has crossed this figure, which will give it a big advantage in the playoffs. The teams finishing in the top-2 get two chances to reach the finals. Even if the team loses Qualifier-1, it still has the opportunity to reach the finals by winning Qualifier-2.
