Visvesvaraya called experts from Bombay and started the process of making sandalwood soap. Manufacturing of soap started in the year 1918 in a factory near Cubbon Park, Bengaluru. Initially this soap was used only by kings and royal families. Later its production started on a large scale, so that people across the state could use it.
