Development scheme brings wave of happiness in villages on 350th martyrdom death anniversary of Guru Teg Bahadur

These days there is an atmosphere of happiness and enthusiasm in many villages of Punjab. After Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced to give a special grant of Rs 50 lakh each to each selected village on the occasion of the 350th martyrdom death anniversary of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, the villagers have welcomed this initiative with open heart.

Villagers expressed gratitude

Villagers living in different areas of the state expressed their gratitude to the government and said that the development work awaited for years will now be possible. Aam Aadmi Party leaders and local public representatives completed the formal process of handing over this amount to the rural panchayats in ceremonies organized at various religious places.

In special programs organized in the holy Gurudwaras of Phez, Panchayat members and village representatives described this scheme as historic and said that this grant will play a decisive role in changing the condition of their villages. Local sarpanches said that for a long time there were challenges in the villages like broken roads, drinking water crisis, sewerage problem and lack of infrastructure. According to him, now as soon as they get the assistance of Rs 50 lakh, they will be able to start development projects on priority basis, which will bring concrete change in the lives of the villagers.

Many villagers said that the previous governments did not pay attention to their problems, but the Mann government has taken this commendable step by giving priority to the betterment of rural areas. A female resident said that the roads in her village used to get filled with mud during the rainy season, due to which children and elderly people had to face a lot of problems. He expressed hope that now this grant will solve the old problems of his village. The youth said that they want to use this amount in the construction of playgrounds, community buildings and other facilities, so that the all-round development of the villages can be ensured.

While sharing the post and video, the villagers said that this initiative is very important in line with the ideal of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji’s spirit of human service, sacrifice and justice. The elders said that just as Guru Sahib made sacrifices for the society and humanity, in the same spirit the government has pledged to serve the poor and backward villages. He called it a true tribute to the martyrdom of Guru Sahib.

Senior leaders of Aam Aadmi Party said in the functions that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has given clear instructions that no village in Punjab should be deprived of development. He said that this special assistance amount is being sent directly to the accounts of the Panchayats, so that every penny can be spent in a transparent manner and there is no scope for any kind of corruption. He expressed confidence that the conditions of education, health, roads, electricity and water in rural areas will improve significantly in the next few years.

Panchayat representatives also said that they will make good use of this money. Many villages have given priority to road construction and repair, while some have planned drinking water and sewerage improvement works. A sarpanch said that a list of development works is being prepared keeping in mind the needs of every section of the village, so that everyone can get the benefit of this assistance.

Rural development experts believe that such schemes increase self-reliance at the local level and strengthen the Panchayat system. He says that when funds are available in rural areas and Panchayats get the right to take decisions, then development happens faster and schemes are able to get off the ground. He called it an ideal model for other states also.
