Devendra Kumar Upadhyay has taken oath as the new Chief Justice of Delhi High Court. Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena has administered him the oath of office and secrecy as the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court. On January 14, Devendra Kumar's name was decided as the new Chief Justice of Delhi. The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the name of Justice Devendra Upadhyay on January 7.

Who is Devendra Kumar Upadhyay?

Devendra Kumar Upadhyay was born on 16 June 1965. He is originally from Ambednagar, Uttar Pradesh. Devendra took his degree from Colvin Talukedars College, Lucknow. After this, he obtained a law degree from Lucknow University in the year 1991. After this he started working as a lawyer in the chamber of his father RA Upadhyay. Devendra Upadhyay practiced mainly in civil and constitutional aspects in Lucknow Bench.

Allahabad judge promoted as Chief Justice of Bombay HC

In the year 2011, Devendra Kumar was promoted as Additional Judge. Then on 6 August 2013, he was appointed as a permanent judge. He has also been a judge of Allahabad High Court. Devendra Kumar Upadhyay promoted as Chief Justice of Bombay High Court. Now he has been transferred to Delhi High Court. Let us tell you that Vibhu Bakhru was holding the responsibility as the Acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court. The Delhi High Court has 35 judges and the sanctioned strength is 60.
