Devotees caught eating egg biryani in Tirumala temple, created ruckus, questions raised on CM Chandrababu Naidu
New Delhi: Controversy has once again arisen over security lapse in Tirumala temple. Devotees hunting for egg biryani have been caught inside the temple, following which a stampede has broken out. The restaurant has criticized Thiruvananthapuram Ashram Devasthanams (TTID). Many questions are being raised regarding the security lapse at Aliperi checkpoint.

According to the media, it was learned that a group of devotees from Tamil Nadu was caught eating egg biryani in Tirumala and this information was given to Tirumala police. Police officers who reached the spot interrogated the devotees and told them that it was against the law. When Tirumala police told the devotees that eating eggs and other non-vegetarian food is prohibited in Tirumala. On this the devotees said that they had no information about this. Tirumala police gave him a stern warning and then let him go.

Former TTD Chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy criticized the TTD administration for the security breach that led to the incident. He said, 'This incident clearly highlights the lapses in the TTD security arrangements as devotees from Tamil Nadu were easily able to reach Tirumala with packets of egg biryani after passing through the mandatory security check at Alipiri checkpoint.'
Questions raised on CM also
Tirupati MP Dr M Gurumurthy also expressed concern over the incident and questioned the sincerity of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu in straightening out TTD matters. 'On January 8, one of the worst stampedes in the history of Tirupati Trust was reported and six pilgrims lost their lives while more than 50 were injured,' the Tirupati MP alleged. After this, the state government took action and transferred the Chief Vigilance and Security Officer of TTD and Tirupati SP, but till now appointments have not been made on both the posts.
