Amit Shah will inaugurate the program
The Home Minister will inaugurate the conference while the Prime Minister will remain there for the remaining two days and will deliver the closing speech on Sunday. The conference also provides an opportunity to identify concrete achievements and monitor their progress, which is also presented to the Prime Minister every year. The official said that this conference is the culmination of detailed discussions being held by district, state and national level police and intelligence officers on identified topics. In the conference, states and union territories will present best practices on every topic so that states can learn from each other.
PM Modi's interest in the program
The Prime Minister has been taking keen interest in the DGP conference since 2014. This year's conference has also planned open discussions on various topics over breakfast, lunch and dinner. This will provide an opportunity to senior police officers to share their views and recommendations with the Prime Minister on major 'policing' and internal security issues affecting the country. Till 2013, this annual conference was held in New Delhi. The following year, when the Modi government came to power, it was decided to hold the event outside the national capital, organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Intelligence Bureau (IB).
