A dispute over a food bill at a roadside dhaba in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradeshescalated into violence after a group of customers allegedly assaulted the owner when asked to make payment for their meal. Police have registered a case and identified the accused based on information provided by the victim and evidence collected during the investigation. According to CSP Rajeshwari Kauravthe incident took place at a dhaba known as Satna Dhabalocated near the border of the Jabalpur and Panagar police station jurisdictions.
The matter came to light after the dhaba owner approached police and reported the assault.
Dispute began over payment of food bill
Police said a group of young men had arrived at the dhaba for lunch. After eating, the customers allegedly informed the owner that they would not be able to pay the bill. The disagreement reportedly led to a heated argument between the customers and the dhaba owner. As tensions escalated, the situation turned violent. According to police officials, the youths allegedly assaulted the owner during the confrontation before leaving the spot.
The victim later informed law enforcement authorities about the incident.
CCTV footage becomes key evidence
Investigators confirmed that a CCTV camera was installed at the dhaba and captured the events surrounding the incident. Speaking about the investigation, CSP Rajeshwari Kaurav said the dhaba owner provided the names of two accused individuals allegedly involved in the assault.
