Dharmendra insisted on playing ‘Ikkis’ at 3 pm, choreographer Vijay Ganguly revealed

Tezzbuzz Desk – Hindi cinema veteran and late actor Dharmendra’s last film ‘Ikkis’ has been released in theaters from January 1. Dharmendra faced illnesses for a long time, but completed the shooting of his last film, before passing away on 24 November 2025. Now the film’s choreographer Vijay Ganguly has made an interesting revelation about Dharmendra’s discipline and amazing dedication towards his work.

Dharmendra’s dominance in Hindi cinema has been unique. In a career spanning 65 years, he worked in more than 300 films and always inspired everyone with his discipline and hard work. Vijay Ganguly told that even in his last years, Dharmendra used to shoot at midnight.

Don’t give up even at midnight

Vijay Ganguly said that Dharmendra had to do some dance steps in a qawwali sequence of the film. The shooting took place between 2:30 and 3:00 am. Due to age and health, he had difficulty in getting up and sitting, but he showed enthusiasm towards work. Vijay said, “We told him that the other boys were stepping with their feet with their hands on their shoulders. He immediately asked me, ‘Why can’t I do that?’ We kept advising him to rest, but he wanted to give his best.”

Dharmendra is adamant

Despite the team’s explanation, Dharmendra did not give up his insistence. Vijay Ganguly further said, “He was adamant on doing the steps. He was sitting because it was difficult for him to get up again and again, yet he got up and completed the steps. We told him that many retakes could increase fatigue, but he felt that he had to give his 100%.”

According to Vijay, dancing was not necessary for the character at that time, but Dharmendra’s thinking was that no one should think that he cannot do it. With his dedication and hard work, he showed everyone that he will always give his best.
