Dharmendra Lifetime Achievement: Bobby Deol shed tears while receiving the award for Dharmendra, said on stage – ‘Papa, you are the best’

Dharmendra news:Recently, Chetak Screen Awards 2026 was organized in Mumbai in which many stalwarts and artists and films were honored with awards. During this, veteran Indian cinema actor Dharmendra was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award after his death. This award was accepted by his son and actor Bobby Deol and during this he became emotional on the stage. Remembering his father, he shared heart touching things.

This special award was announced by Javed Akhtar, Ramesh Sippy and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. During this, a beautiful video of Dharmendra’s memorable film moments was also shown, in which his poem was recited in the voice of Amitabh Bachchan.

Bobby’s emotions spilled out on stage

When Bobby Deol reached the stage, his eyes were moist. While accepting his father’s award, he said- “I see love for my father in all of your eyes. My father touched everyone’s hearts through his work and even through his Instagram Reels, which had become his new hobby… He always wanted people to be happy and believed that God has given all of us so much in life. He often said that we all have a special talent hidden within us, and if we believe in it we can achieve anything.”

Life lessons learned from father

Bobby further said, “He worked in this industry for so many years, he saw both good and bad times but never gave up… Wherever I go and whoever I meet, I get a lot of love because my father made a place in people’s hearts for us – for me, for my brother and for our family. People love him so much that he gave us a place in his heart without any hesitation. And today, standing here, I feel like I can go home and meet him.” I will say, ‘Papa, you could not come, so I have brought your award with me’.

Further, Bobby Deol got emotional and said – I had never thought that I would see such a moment today (when you (Dharmendra) will not be among us). I feel very lucky and grateful to God that he made me his son. Thank you very much. Papa, you are the best.”

Died at the age of 89

Dharmendra died on 24 November at his home in Mumbai at the age of 89. His departure marked the end of an era in Bollywood. However, his last film ‘Ikkis’ received much appreciation from the audience and critics.
