Dhruv Shorey equaled Jagadishan’s record by hitting five consecutive sixes.

Dhruv Shorey made a new record in Vijay Hazare Trophy

New Delhi: Vidarbha cricket team’s star batsman Dhruv Shorey has achieved a new milestone by playing a brilliant inning of unbeaten 109 runs on 77 balls against Hyderabad in the Vijay Hazare Trophy match on Friday, 26 December. This performance has proved to be an important milestone in his career.

Dhruv Shorey has equaled the world record with his century performance. The 33-year-old scored his fifth consecutive century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, becoming only the second player in the history of List-A cricket to score centuries in five consecutive innings. He equaled the record of India’s Narayan Jagadeesan, who had scored consecutive centuries in five matches in the same tournament in 2022-23.

Dhruv Shorey’s excellent form

Vidarbha’s Dhruv Shorey had scored consecutive centuries in the last three matches of the last season and his performance in the first two matches of this new season has also been excellent. In his last five innings he has scored 110, 114, 118, 136 and 109* runs respectively. This is his debut in the tournament with great fanfare.

More importantly, Dhruv Shorey has left behind legends like Kumar Sangakkara, Alviro Pietersen, Devdutt Padikkal and Karun Nair in the list of players who have scored most consecutive centuries in List-A cricket. All these players have scored consecutive centuries in four innings. If Dhruv Shorey scores a century in the next match, he will become the first player in the world to score six consecutive List-A centuries, leaving behind Narayan Jagadeesan.
