Dhurandhar 2 Controversy: Director clarifies on hurting religious sentiments of Sikhs, calls smoking scene a game of AI

News India Live, Digital Desk: The upcoming film ‘Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge’ has been embroiled in major controversies even before its release. The Sikh community has lodged a strong objection to a person from the Sikh community being shown smoking in a scene of the film. Seeing the matter increasing, the director of the film has now given a clarification by sharing a long post on social media. The director claims that the controversial scene is not actually a part of the film, but has been created by Artificial Intelligence (AI). Huge outrage in the Sikh community, the director apologized. In a clip of the film that went viral on social media, a Sikh character was shown smoking beedi/cigarette. Since then, Sikh organizations and people of the community started protesting, calling it an insult to their religious beliefs. Seeing the controversy deepening, the director wrote a post on Instagram saying, “Our intention has never been to hurt the sentiments of any religion or community. We respect the Sikh community whole-heartedly.” Excuse or reality of ‘AI’ on the controversial scene? The director has made a shocking claim in his defence. He said that the video or photo that is circulating on the internet is not the original footage of the film. According to the director, “Nowadays, any face or character can be molded into any situation by misuse of AI technology. The controversial scene is AI-generated and is not a part of the script or editing of our film at all.” He has appealed to the fans not to fall victim to any misconception without knowing the complete truth. Difficulties have increased regarding Dhurandhar 2. Although the director has given clarification, the demand for boycott of the film has started rising on social media. ‘Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge’ is a high-octane action thriller film from which the makers have high expectations. Now it remains to be seen whether the anger of the Sikh community calms down after this ‘AI theory’ and apology of the director or the clouds of crisis will loom over the release of the film.
