Dhurandhar: Abuses muted in theatre, uncut on OTT? Deepak Tijori raised questions on CBFC’s censorship regarding ‘Dhurandhar 2’

Dhurandhar:The film Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge is making record breaking earnings at the box office. There is a lot of craze about the film among the fans, while some people are calling it propaganda due to which it is in controversies. Now in the meantime, more issues are being raised about the censorship of the film than its content. Actor-director Deepak Tijori has raised questions on the rule of ‘half-muting’ films in theatres.

Deepak Tijori asked questions to CBFC

Deepak Tijori shared a long post on social media and expressed his confusion over the functioning of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). He wrote that he does not understand that when the film has got A certificate, then what is the point of half-muting the abuses. He sarcastically said that perhaps he is not able to understand this logic or somewhere he is thinking too much about wrong things.

Tijori further referring to OTT platforms said that after some time the same film is released on OTT without any cut or mute, where it is also watched with the family. In such a situation, the question arises that why such censorship is being done for adult audiences in the theatre.

CBFC had cut some scenes, made changes

According to reports, 21 changes were suggested by CBFC before the release of Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge. Four of these major changes were related to reducing violent scenes, such as:

  • Beheading scenes, attacks on eyes and other violent scenes.
  • Apart from this, changes were also made in some dialogues and subtitles.
  • The film has been given an ‘A’ certificate and its duration is approximately 3 hours 49 minutes.
