It may soon overtake Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’ and join the top-10 highest-grossing Bollywood films. Despite tough competition from Hollywood film ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’, ‘Dhurandhar’ has maintained its lead. Trade experts hope that the Christmas holiday will give a new boost to the film and it can become the first film of Ranveer Singh’s career to join the Rs 1000 crore club.

‘Dhurandhar’ box office collection day 19

According to initial estimates from Sacnilk, ‘Dhurandhar’ earned around Rs 17.25 crore nett in India on the 19th day. Although this figure remained slightly below the figure of 20 crores, a slight increase was seen on Tuesday as compared to the third Monday. This is an indication that the grip of the film has not weakened even on weekdays. Usually, a huge decline is seen in the collections of films in the third week, but ‘Dhurandhar’ is continuously proving that it is not an ordinary film.

Strong run even in the third week

This film, directed by Aditya Dhar, did an excellent business of Rs 95.25 crore on the third weekend. After this, a decline of about 57.1% was recorded on Monday and the film earned about Rs 16.5 crore. After adding Tuesday’s figures, the total Bharat Net collection for the third week has reached around Rs 129 crore. According to trade analysts, if there is a slight bounce on Wednesday and Thursday before Christmas, then this week may also prove to be better than expected.

The overall Hindi occupancy of the film was recorded at 30.70% on the 19th day. The number of viewers in the morning shows was relatively low, but the film gained momentum after noon. The occupancy in the evening and night shows remained consistently above 30%, which shows that the film is still getting tremendous support from word of mouth. The performance of ‘Dhurandhar’ has remained stable in multiplexes as well as single screen theatres.

Dominance continues despite ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’

Despite facing tough competition from Hollywood mega franchise ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’, ‘Dhurandhar’ has retained its lead. According to reports, on Tuesday, ‘Avatar 3’ did a business of around Rs 9.3 crore in India, which is almost half of the earning of ‘Dhurandhar’. While ‘Dhurandhar’ is close to entering the Rs 900 crore club, ‘Avatar 3’ is crossing the Rs 100 crore mark in India at a slow pace. The thing to note is that ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ had touched this figure in its first weekend itself.

‘Dhurandhar’ shines at worldwide box office

The All India gross collection of the film has crossed Rs 700 crore, which is currently estimated to be around Rs 707.5 crore. ‘Dhurandhar’ has maintained a great hold in the overseas market also. In 19 days, the film has collected around Rs 190 crore from abroad. In this way, the worldwide gross collection of ‘Dhurandhar’ has reached approximately Rs 897.5 crore. With this, the film has officially confirmed its place in the list of top 10 highest grossing Bollywood films.

Will ‘Dhurandhar’ join the Rs 1000 crore club?

With its entry in Christmas week, trade experts are confident that ‘Dhurandhar’ can join the Rs 1000 crore club. This will be the first film in Ranveer Singh’s career which will touch this historic milestone. However, if Wednesday and Thursday do not see an extraordinary surge, this week could be the film’s lowest grossing week ever. Earlier, the film had done a tremendous business of Rs 207.25 crore in the first week and Rs 252.25 crore in the second week.

Will Christmas give us new momentum?

‘Dhurandhar’, which was released on December 5 without any holiday or long weekend, has achieved these figures only on the basis of content and positive word of mouth. Now that Christmas holiday is falling on Thursday, it is expected that the film will once again get a boost at the box office. The biggest achievement is that ‘Dhurandhar’ has become the first Indian film to earn Rs 20 crore or more for 17 consecutive days. Maintaining the floor of Rs 20 crore for two full working weeks and three weekends is a feat which even iconic films like ‘Dangal’ and ‘RRR’ could not achieve.
