Dhurandhar’ in controversy; Objection to one sentence ‘Ya’, Aslam Chaudhary’s wife threatens to go to court

Aditya Dhar’s film “Dhurandhar”, which is based on real-life events, is a semi-fictional account of India’s fight against terrorism in Pakistan, particularly the Lyari gangs of Karachi. Many of the characters in the film are based on real people. In this movie Ranveerplayed the role of Major Mohit Sharma, an Indian Army officer who became an Indian spy in Pakistan. An actor in a movie Sanjay Dutt Chaudhary plays Aslam Khan, a Pakistani police officer. But Dhunradhar is currently mired in controversy. Chowdhury Aslam Khan’s wife Noreen has expressed displeasure over some dialogues in Ranveer’s film and said that she will take legal action.

Speaking on Dialogue Pakistan’s podcast, Nooreen said, “Her husband was a fan of Sanjay Dutt since watching Villain in the 1990s and was confident that the actor would do justice to his character. But he had one complaint. I am sure Sanjay Dutt will do justice to my husband’s role”. In the movie ‘Dhurandhar’, Sanjay Dutt’s character SP Chaudhary Aslam Khan is used as the offspring of Satan and Genie.”

Chowdhury Aslam Khan’s wife Noreen objected to this sentence in Dhurandhar, “We are Muslims and such words insult not only Aslam but also his mother, who was a simple, honest woman. If I feel that my husband has been portrayed negatively in the film or any propaganda has been done against him, I will definitely take all legal action. It is strange that Indian filmmakers can find no other subject than defaming Pakistan.”
