Mumbai Amidst the discussion of Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna’s film ‘Dhurandhar-2’, the first part of the film is creating a stir on OTT, but meanwhile its first part is performing tremendously on OTT. Despite a limited theatrical release, the film has gained new popularity on digital platforms and has become the most watched film in several countries.
The film was not allowed to be released in theaters in Pakistan, but as soon as it was released on Netflix, the audience there embraced it. Since its release, it has consistently remained the top trending film in Pakistan.
‘Dhurandhar’ at number 1 in these 5 countries
According to official data, the film has also performed well in the Middle East and African markets.
The film has reached the first position in the viewership charts in these five countries – Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman and Mauritius.
It was the number-1 film in Pakistan in the week of 26 January to 1 February, even though it was released on OTT on 30 January. This means that in just three days the film registered a big jump in viewership.
Strong hold in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh also
Even in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, the film continues to remain at the second position in the trending list. Trade pundits believe that in the coming days it can reach the top in these markets also.
Dominance of Indian films in top-3
The interesting thing in the list of OTT viewership was that the first three places were occupied by Indian films.
Tere Ishq Mein (starrer Dhanush and Kriti Sanon) stood at the second position, while Haq (starrer Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam) took the third position.
New records made on OTT
After its digital release, the film broke many viewership records. It got around 76 lakh views in the first three days, which is being counted among the big figures for this period in India.
It also left behind popular films like Animal, Fighter and Pushpa 2: The Rule in terms of opening viewership.
New life to director Aditya Dhar’s film
The film is directed by Aditya Dhar. After the box office, now the success on OTT has made it stronger in the second innings as well.
Meanwhile, the discussion regarding Dhurandhar 2 has intensified. The teaser of the film has recently been released and it is said to be ready for release in March.
