This is how Lyari area of Pakistan was prepared in India, video of shooting of Dhurandhar went viral

Dhurandhar Shooting Location: Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna’s film ‘Dhurandhar’ remains in the news. Every new information related to the film increases the excitement of the audience. The special thing is that in this film made under the direction of Aditya Dhar, the detail and truthfulness with which the Lyari area in Karachi, Pakistan has been shown has impressed the people there as well.

However, obviously the film was not shot in Pakistan. Yes, ‘Dhurandhar’ has been shot in many parts of India including Thailand. These days, many facts related to the film are going viral on social media, in which it is being told how the Lyari area of Pakistan was exactly recreated in Thailand.

Lyari set made in Thailand

Actually, the actual shooting locations of the film have been shown in the video going viral on Instagram. Even though the story of ‘Dhurandhar’ is set in Pakistan and is based on the background of Lyari, Karachi, it has been shot mainly in Thailand, Amritsar, Ladakh, Ludhiana, Chandigarh and Mumbai. A grand set like a Pakistani town was built on 6 acres of land in Thailand for the film. About 500 Indian and Thai artists and technicians worked hard day and night to make this set and erected it in just 20 days.

Deep research done for authenticity

The film’s set designer Saini S Johare, who has previously worked on projects like ‘The Family Man’ and ‘The Night Manager’, designed the set. While talking to Hollywood Reporter, he told that it took him about three months to design the film.
He said, “We worked on designing from March to May, did location recce in June and started shooting in July. Initially, there were 15 designers in my team and we used to work 12 hours a day, because it was a huge project.”

To maintain authenticity, the team took the help of footage from old Pakistani films and newspaper cuttings, so that the streets and atmosphere of Lyari could be accurately portrayed on screen.

Why was the set not made in Mumbai?

The set designer also told that director Aditya Dhar was very serious about this project and wanted that nothing in the film should look artificial. It was not possible to build a set on such a large scale in Mumbai. Also, since the shooting took place in July, monsoon was also a big challenge.
After doing recce in many countries, the makers finally chose Thailand as the shooting location, where both the weather and the place were right.

Bike chase scene filmed in Chandigarh

Besides, it has also been revealed in another viral video that the famous bike chase scene of the film was shot in an underpass in Chandigarh. The video of the making of this scene is becoming increasingly viral on social media and the audience is liking it a lot.
