Recently there has been a big uproar on social media. The reason is the famous YouTuber Dhruv Rathi A new video of (Dhruv Rathee), whose name is ‘The Fake Beauty of Bollywood Celebrities’ i.e. fake beauty of Bollywood celebrities. In the thumbnail (cover photo) of this video, old and new pictures of Bollywood actress Jhanvi Kapoor were shown, in which the differences in her face were shown. Why were these actresses targeted?

On or around the same day, Dhruv Rathi uploaded his video. In the video, she talked about many Bollywood actresses like Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra, Kajol, Bipasha Basu etc. and how they undergo plastic surgery, botox, fillers and skin lightening treatment. Seeing Jhanvi’s ‘before and after’ pictures in the thumbnail, many people thought that Dhruv was targeting her, especially in response to her Bangladesh post. A post went viral on social media, in which it was written, ‘Hindus, wake up! Jhanvi Kapoor posted for Bangladeshi Hindus and Dhruv Rathi made a video questioning her beauty. This increased the chaos further. Jhanvi’s friend and famous influencer Ori (Orhan Avtramani) also attacked Dhruv and said that Jhanvi probably doesn’t even know him.

What clarification did Dhruv Rathi give?

As the controversy escalated, Dhruv Rathi made a separate clarification video. He started by reading that viral post and angrily asked why people believe without thinking. He said three main things-

question of timing: The day Jhanvi posted, I uploaded a half-hour long video. Is it possible to make such a big video and do research in such a short time? It takes many days to make such videos. (God has given the brain, why don’t people use it?

His stand on Bangladesh– Rathi said, ‘I myself have made a reel for Bangladeshi Hindus, so why would I criticize them? I speak directly, am not afraid of anyone – neither Bollywood celebrities, nor anyone else.

real meaning of video: The entire video is about plastic surgery and its bad effects on society. In this I did not ask any personal question to Jhanvi Kapoor. Her picture was used in the thumbnail because Jhanvi is one of the very few Bollywood actresses who has openly accepted her cosmetic surgery. This was just an example, not a personal attack. (Some reports said that the thumbnail was for A/B testing, that is, YouTube itself chooses the better one. Dhruv said that people are misinterpreting it just by looking at the timing and thumbnail.

What was the main theme of the video?

Dhruv’s video was on the rising ‘fake beauty standards’ in Bollywood. He told that many celebrities change their looks by undergoing plastic surgery, injections and treatments, which has a negative impact on the society. People consider it natural and feel pressure on themselves. Jhanvi was only taken as an example because she has openly talked about it. Till now Jhanvi Kapoor has not given any answer on this entire controversy or Dhruv’s clarification, she is silent.
