Recently Trump made a big claim. He said that he stopped the terrible war that broke out between India and Pakistan. How? Saying that if the fighting does not stop, they will impose heavy tariffs on both the countries.
Sounds like America’s old “Big Boss” image. But Congress leader and former diplomat Shashi Tharoor has now presented the other side of this story to the world, which is very important for us to know. This aspect shows that India is no longer a country which is afraid of someone’s threat or dependent on someone’s favor.
How much truth is there in Trump’s story?
Trump claimed that India and Pakistan were ready to fight each other, and his one threat fixed everything. But Shashi Tharoor clearly said, “This is not true.”
Tharoor explained that no one had told India what to do and what not to do. Neither America, nor any other country. What our government and army did was entirely our own decision. We neither asked for mediation from America nor did we need it.
Real reason: When Pakistan said ‘stop’
Now coming to the truth which will make every Indian feel proud. Shashi Tharoor said that the fight did not stop because America had shown any threat of ‘tariff’. The war stopped because Pakistan itself had expressed this desire.
When the Indian Army started retaliating, the pressure on Pakistan increased so much that they contacted. The message was clear-“Let’s stop the action here.”
India’s intention was never to impose war. Our aim was only to protect ourselves and teach a lesson to the terrorists. As soon as there was a signal from Pakistan that they were no longer in a position to mess up and wanted to calm down the situation, India also showed greatness and stopped the action. That means control was completely in the hands of India, not America.
Knowledge is not required without asking for it
One thing has become clear as glass from Tharoor’s words. When Trump says “I did it,” he may be pleasing his voters. But the reality is that India had made it clear that this is our mutual matter. Tharoor rightly reminded that we have always rejected third party interference.
Just think, if America’s threat really had any substance, then why would India compromise its sovereignty? The truth is that this victory was a result of Indian diplomacy and military pressure. Pakistan had understood that it would be at its own loss to move ahead.
So next time someone says that the West saved us, remind them of this reply of Tharoor and that ‘plea’ of Pakistan.
