‘Did Rahul Gandhi go to jail?’: Arvind Kejriwal, Congress engage in verbal spat over ‘BJP playbook’ before elections
New Delhi: In a development which has sent tremors across India’s political arena, Former Delhi chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Friday got clean chit from a Delhi court in excise policy case along with former deputy CM Manish Sisodia and 21 others.
Kejriwal, Congress in war of words
It send triggered a new political battle as Kejriwal first attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah alleging a conspiracy against AAP, and then the Congress has fired salvo at the BJP over the matter. Congress attacked the BJP by alleging that Kejriwal’s discharge came against the backdrop of the Gujarat and Punjab elections.
Kejriwal, not one to back down from a fight, counter-attacked the Congress, his former ally. He accused the party of having “no shame” and contrasted between the imprisonment of AAP leaders and the Congress high command remaining out of jail.
Pawan Khera blasts BJP
After Kejriwal came out of jail, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera took to X and said, “The BJP is not a political party. It is a shape-shifter, a wishful serpent – Icchadhari Naag. It will stoop to any level for one obsessive goal: defeat Congress – Congress Mukt Bharat. For 12 years they spewed venom at the TMC. And now? Narendra Modi himself is showering it with praise – not out of respect, but to land a cheap blow at Congress.”
He added, “Elections are coming. So the script is predictable. Cases against Congress leaders will suddenly accelerate – @PChidambaram_IN has already been dragged back into the spotlight because Tamil Nadu is going for polls. Meanwhile, proceedings against their convenient “allies” in the AAP and others will quietly vanish in light of the Gujarat and Punjab elections. This is the BJP playbook: vendetta as governance and agencies as campaign tools.”

Kejriwal counters with Robert Vadra reference
Kejriwal, in his counter-attack, attacked Khera’s party and said, “I want to ask the Congress – Kejriwal went to jail. Did Robert Vadra go to jail? Sanjay Singh went to jail. Did Rahul Gandhi go to jail? Sanjay Singh went to jail. Did Sonia Gandhi ji went to jail? What is Congress saying? Does it have no shame?”
Notably, he has also attacked the BJP and said, “PM Modi, Amit Shah hatched conspiracy against us. We are ‘kattar imandaar’.” He added, “BJP has thrown Delhi into chaos with problems like pollution, polluted Yamuna, damaged roads.”
