Digital Arrest: Government’s strong attack on WhatsApp, the scammers who do digital arrest are no longer safe.

News India Live, Digital Desk: In view of the increasing cases of ‘Digital Arrest’ in the country, the Central Government has taken the biggest step so far. The Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Information Technology have jointly directed WhatsApp to permanently block all device IDs that are being used in cyber fraud and fake arrest scams. The purpose of this ‘surgical strike’ of the government is to break the back of those vicious criminals who are making innocent people their victims by showing fear of police, CBI or Narcotics Department. What is the new ‘Device Blocking’ plan of the government? Till now WhatsApp used to ban only mobile numbers, but the scammers immediately became active again with a new SIM card. After the new order of the government: No number, phone will be useless: Now WhatsApp will blacklist the ID of the entire device (handset) used in scams. This means that WhatsApp will never be able to be used on that phone in future, no matter which SIM card is used. IMEI Tracking: Security agencies are now tracking these devices through IMEI number, so that the entire network of scammers can be demolished. Digital Arrest: How is fear of death woven? ‘Digital Arrest’ is a new cyber crime in which criminals pretend to be government officials through video calls. Fake allegations: Scammers tell the victim that an illegal parcel (drugs or weapons) has been intercepted in their name. Detention in front of the camera: The victim is forced to stay on video call for hours and not go anywhere, which they call ‘digital arrest’. Extortion: Due to the fear of being defamed and jailed, the victim transfers lakhs of rupees to the accounts of the scammers. Beware! Government agencies never do ‘digital arrest’. The Indian Department of Telecommunications and the Home Ministry have repeatedly clarified that: CBI, police or any legal agency does not ‘arrest’ anyone through WhatsApp video call. It is completely illegal to force anyone to be on a video call inside the house. Government officials never demand money on call. Do this immediately if you get cheated. If you get such a suspicious call, do not panic. Immediately report it on Chakshu portal or call the National Cyber Crime Helpline number 1930. The government claims that this new technology of blocking device ID can reduce cyber crimes by 60 to 70 percent in the future.
