That picture is from 1995 Gandhi Nagar
But do you know when and where the picture shared by Digvijay Singh was taken? Actually this picture is of Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat on 14 March 1995. It was a golden day for the BJP, when the BJP ousted Chimanbhai Patel’s Congress government from power by winning 121 seats in the assembly elections. The picture is of the swearing-in ceremony of Keshubhai Patel becoming the Chief Minister for the first time. A huge crowd had gathered in the huge pandal built for the swearing-in ceremony. Senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani was sitting on the chair there on the stage. Kamla Advani was sitting with him and Pramod Mahajan was sitting right behind. Anandi Ben Patel was also visible.
Young Narendra Modi with Advani
Narendra Modi, a young BJP worker, was sitting near Advani on the floor below. Narendra Modi was working as the Organization General Secretary of Gujarat BJP at that time and was considered the backbone of the Gujarat BJP organization. Modi, who was active in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh branch since 1987, gave a new edge to the election strategy. LK Advani’s Rath Yatra created a wave of Hindutva in Gujarat. At that time he also got the credit of more than 100 seats in Gujarat. The party says that sitting on the floor as a mark of respect for seniors is a symbol of the discipline culture of BJP-RSS.
